Any Healthy Breakfast Ideas?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have realized that a high protein breakfast works best for me, to sustain my blood sugar and insulin levels and also keep cravings at bay. Eggs are obviously perfect, but wow I am getting tired of eggs.

Any ideas, to switch it up a bit?

My endocrinologist suggested eating quinoa for breakfast as I was getting sick of eggs all the time. He shared to eat it like a poridge either hot or cold with milk. It was a nice alternative.

I typically use a premier protein shake in my coffee to give myself protein if I'm tired of eating breakfast. If I'm hungry sometimes I'll add a TB of plain cream to my cup. Keeps me satisfied until lunch usually. I also will sometimes make myself a keto granola using toasted nuts, unsweetened toasted coconut, flax seeds, whatever else I want to add. I toast until crunchy and use a little maple syrup (can use SF) to sweeten and add cinnamon. You can eat this as is or as a cereal with milk of your choice. I've also seen recipes for "cream of wheat" that can be made using almond or coconut flour.

How do you cook your eggs? Most of the high protein breakfast recipes I have involve eggs in one way or another but they're tasty, like Shakshuka which is eggs baked in spicy tomatoes. Sometimes I make potato rosti (sometimes with chorizo chunks stirred through) and have it with a poached egg and smoked salmon and vegetables (spinach, mushroom and tomato). Otherwise you're looking at high protein seeds mixed in with granola or muesli. Actually that's not quite true. If you like fish, there are a lot of nice fish breakfast dishes. Up here in Scotland, smoked kippers or herrings are traditional at breakfast. When I was growing up we used to eat a lot of kedgeree - smoked fish with onions and rice and lemon juice. It's traditionally served with hard boiled eggs but you can leave those out if you want.
