Hello, I Was Wondering If There Are Alternatives To Spironolactone?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have naturally low blood pressure, and when I took Spironolactone, it made me quite dizzy and faint-like. Are there any other prescriptions used to combat facial hair?

Thanks for the reply-- I was at one point at two a day as well. I started running for exercise, and started losing a lot of weight. As the weight fell off, I noticed I was way more dizzy when taking the spironolactone, so my doc cut me down to one a day, at 100mg. She said that was pretty much the lowest dosage that can be prescribed for it to be effective. Even that was too intense for me. I just don't think I can take Spiro- my last blood pressure check was at 90/68, which is great, but not great for spiro. I'm asking for Vaniqua from my doc but was curious if anyone knew of any other treatments besides laser as I've gone that route with little success, and am TERRIFIED of electrolysis, lol.
Thanks again!

It did the same for me at first. I was supposed to take it twice a day but then (under my doctors supervision) I stopped my morning dose and only took it at night. Once I felt like I was used to it after a few weeks I started taking it in the morning again and it does not bother me so much anymore. Another important part of taking it is drinking TONS of water-way more than you normally would since it is a diuretic.
