I have the Skyla IUD and i have only had a couple periods but my doctor told me that some women have periods and some do not. He also said that sometimes the women who do have periods they lighten up or completely go away after having the IUD for a little while. I would speak to your doctor about it if you feel that is necessary. I hope this helps!

I’m not a doctor and I have never had an IUD; however, my doctor told me to skip my sugar pill and take bc pills year round without a break so that I would not have a period. If i stop and am in shape then i will be fertile or if i somehow get pregnant on it then me and the baby wont be harmed. She said that having a period every month isn’t always healthy or needed for women in general. Before birth control women were usually pregnant for like a good portion of their life so they didn’t have as many periods. Every time you bleed your ovaries scar and increases the risk for ovarian cancer and infection. I bleed about 3 or 4 times a year and its break thru bleeding so its not that heavy and i don’t have to call into work because of the pain. Or if I skip the pill I will bleed. So not having a period isn’t bad and i don’t miss it. But l don’t know about with an IUD. If you were having them before and you’re not supposed to stop having them you should go to the doc. I know that getting pregnant on an IUD can cause ectopic pregnancy which is really dangerous and not getting a period is a sign of pregnancy. Or maybe its just that your not dropping an egg every 28 days which happens with PCOS. Like I said, I’m not a doctor but I’ve asked plenty of period questions. I would go to the doc ASAP. But i was always told to not worry if i skip a period because it can be a relief. Everyone is different though.
