Low Blood Sugar From Metforin
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have pcos and am on metformin , only to keep the cyst from forming on my ovaries. So now i have to eat more sweets just to keep my bloodsugar from dropping. Ugh I cannot win. I need to know what other women are taking for this??? I have tried to get off and use natural supplements, but that was a no go? Any suggestion ? Thanks in advance

Are you eating regularly on metformin? If you go too long without eating you will get the crash in blood sugar. I always eat every couple of hours to prevent this from happening. If I go too long without eating I get really stupid and exhausted. I eat and then I feel better. The last time I had a bad crash was when I drank and didn’t eat much for dinner.

Debra the reason why I asked is because must people on metformin have a insulin issue. That's probably why your blood sugar is dropping.

Well I take Metformin and have for Several years and I’m also Hypoglycemic so when I take it in the morning I eat a glucose tablet and also when I take it at night you might need to eat two you can get them at Walmart in a pretty big jar for like $3-$4 and a little container for $1 for your purse if you want to take some with you
