I take 100mg sertraline tablets for my depression, but it was diagnosed before I was diagnosed with PCOS.
I'm also on 500mg metformin twice a day and simvastatins, 20mg.

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

Who all has been diagnosed with PCOS and have been prescribed Metformin? Has it worked as far as achieving pregnancy!?! Was an OBGYN the doctor who prescribed the medication to you? I don't have any pre diabetes or diabetes period. I'm not extremely over weight I'm 4 foot eleven inches tall and weigh 140 lbs. so I'm not extremely skinny but not obese either. My fiancé doesn't want me to take the medication however I got ahold of some and have heard that the medication has been used to treat… read more

No Periods
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

Anyone else NEVER get a period?

I only do when I take Provera.

I have already tried Metformin, Vitex, weight loss, exercise, clean eating. Still have never had a cycle on my own.

I just started taking inositol, so I'll give that a shot for a few months to see if that helps at all. Any other ideas? Is there anything you have been able to do to naturally get a period?

Overall Treatment
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I've never treated my PCOS, until now I had never knew there was different types, I've tried everything to lose weight, I gain weight rapidly. I have issues with facial hair and thinning head hair, some bald spots starting. My periods are torture, I was considering a partial hysterectomy but my GYN talked me out of it, I already have two children and plan on no more. Where do I even begin for treatment, I was diagnosed well over 15yrs ago. I'm 40 but never, ever treated.

Does Anyone Here Take Metformin Or Glucose Meds Who Is NOT Insulin Resistant And Find Any Benefits?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

So far my tests don’t show insulin resistance that I know of but the doctor was talking about putting me on metformin anyways. Anybody else benefitted from that? Did metformin regulate your cycle even if you didn’t have insulin problems?

Metformin During Pregnancy
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

Who has been on metformin while pregnant? My RE thinks my recent miscarriage is a result of stopping my metfromin, which my regular OB advised me to do when I went in for my 7 week ultrasound.

A myPCOSteam Member

I wasn’t on it during my pregnancy but I had to have the progestin shot in my hip to prevent preterm labor. From what I’ve seen most RE and gyn want you to continue metformin while pregnant

Metformin
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

So when I read that metformin causes gas/upset stomach/diarrhea they weren't kidding. It's been about a month now and I want to know...am I going to be plagued with diarrhea forever???? It doesn't seem worth it. I'm scared to eat because I don't know what's going to make my upset stomach and diarrhea even worse than it already is.

My Dr Tried Metformin And Progesterone And No Period, She Suggests Clomid. Should I Try It?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

Me and DH have been trying hard for 8 months now, I've had 2 periods this year, none since may. Our Dr tried to reboot my period hormones with progesterone but that was almost 2 months ago, no period. She had suggested clomid to me at that visit, but I hesitated. Now I'm reading many times over about women with my same issues conceiving on clomid. I'm wondering if it's a good idea just to try it and see what happens. I'll take any advice, I'm so sad thinking I can't bare a child.

A myPCOSteam Member

I've been back on it going on 3 months now and am still waiting for a period to come.
