A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

Ladies, what’s the longest you’ve had your period? Mine has been on for almost 5 months. Some days it’s heavy, others, not so much .. I even spot sometimes. It’s just really frustrating.

8 months before getting back on BC because I couldn't take it any more. Sometimes the bleeding was so bad, I wear a diva cup and I was dumping it every 20 minutes! I hate the doctors the most, they… read more

Blood Clots
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

So I was recently diagnosed with PCOS, the doctor didn’t really go into much detail on what it was and all that, Thank goodness I kinda had an idea before hand. She just put me on birth control. This is my first month on it and I just started my period but it is super heavy and I’m passing a lot of blood clots. I have had blood clots before but not like this accompanied with really bad cramps. Is that normal?

sometimes you can get a lot of clots if you have a build up of old lining in your uterus, I wouldn't panic but share the info with your doctor, in case it continues

Abnormal Bleeding !
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

Hello Everyone!

Has anyone else experienced prolonged bleeding while having PCOS?? I’ve had this “period” since December 2017 and was recently put on birth control to stop the bleeding due to becoming anemic. I’ve had a Pap smear and it came back “normal”. Is there something out there (besides birth control) I can take to stop this issue?

Thank you,
Monica

Abnormal Bleeding
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

Since November of last last year I have had prolonged bleeding and more frequent periods. Before I could go months without having one. And now I get them almost every three weeks, and they last for a week. They used to only last for around 2 days. Back in November of last year, i have a period for almost a month and a half. I get really really bad cramps with them now too, but only on the day before, and the day after. Should I be worried? I know that women with PCOS have a higher likelihood of… read more

Why Is The Doctor Percribing Me Spironolactone?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

So the doctor had done a ultrasound on me on my first appointment seeing him and informed me that "it looks like my uterus lining is thick" so he prescribed me with 200mg progesterone for 10 days to thin out the lining and have my menstrual regulated. He mentioned that it should regulate my period which i havent had since age 22 and i am 33 right now. So i was excited thinking im about have my menstrual regulated again and have a chance to conceive which ive been trying the last 13 years with… read more

Hi! I would first like to comment that it's odd he took what you said during your virtual meeting as a positive sign. If you took 200mg of progesterone for 10 days, you should have bled 1-3 days… read more

No Periods
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

Anyone else NEVER get a period?

I only do when I take Provera.

I have already tried Metformin, Vitex, weight loss, exercise, clean eating. Still have never had a cycle on my own.

I just started taking inositol, so I'll give that a shot for a few months to see if that helps at all. Any other ideas? Is there anything you have been able to do to naturally get a period?

Any Experience With Proscar (Finasteride)?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

My doctor is switching me off of Spironolactone, after just two weeks, because of concerns about my kidney function. He is now prescribing Proscar (Finasteride). Has anyone had any experience using this? Any input of if you liked it, or hated it, and why? I did a brief online research that did not yield many encouraging results. I would love to hear some real life experiences with this med.

Any Other’s Who Have Or Had A Mirena IUD And Thoughts On It?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’

SOS, I need advice and personal stories. I’ve had Mirena for about two years now. I simply wanted it for its sole purpose as birth control. Due to insurance issues and what not, mirena covered my IUD for me so i was limited to options as to which IUD was good or best for me. I tried a bunch of different birth control pills before and I hated every single one of them. I either bled every two weeks, gained excessive weight, or was a moody b*tch. My mom still thinks my moods swings may be cauased… read more
