Hello! So, I’ve had pcos since forever and never had a period naturally unless my weight was really low. I just turned 32 and have had 2 natural periods without any weight loss or change in diet…in fact, the only thing I changed was CBD at night to help me sleep everything else has stayed the same for a couple of years. This happen to anyone else? Also had my testosterone checked as hubby and I were ttc and it was much lower. Right now, I’m averaging once every other month when before it had to… read more
My doctor and I were having a discussion on which medication brought back my periods full blown and right on time every month, was it my thyroid medication or the hydrocortisol that I am taking. The conclusion was BOTH. My thyroid numbers are classified on the low end of normal, where most endocrinologist would not even consider, even the lowest dose of thyroid medicine to help, so when I found intergrative care doctors who care about how I feel instead of some numbers in a book that frankly do not apply to everyone, I was give low doses of thyroid which would help return my period from gone to a little spotty. But recently my new doctor put me on hydrocortisol because I have fatigue and very little natural cortisol. Suddenly my periods where back where they should have been when I was 20! After a while, I had to go off of the thyroid medicine because it was going to interfere with being put on a stimulant (for my fatigue) and my periods returned back to a light spotty thing that shows up semi-regularly. It made my doctor and I both realize how the adrenals play a part in our everyday functions, cortisol is not just used for stress and the thyroid plays a part in menstrual cycles just as much as any other hormone.
What percentage of cbd do you use ? I have 5% it tastes too disgusting to keep it up 😷
Sleep is my arch nemesis.. lol! But there is a possible explanation. The CBD is helping you relax and get into a fully restful state, which is wonderful for your adrenal glands which is a very ignored part of the endocrine system by most traditional doctors. Along with a lower testosterone you may have some normalcy. If you do not need birth control try talking to your doctor about adding progesterone. It balance your testosterone and forces it down where it should be. Plus the added benefits of helping you cycle every month and aid in formation of healthy follicles, if you are trying to get pregnant.
