What Treatments Are There To Help With Weight
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I struggle with my weight so badly. It's frustrating I eat small portions, exercise, and eat mostly non- processed food, I don't know what else to do I lost a bunch and then gained it all back and then some and I didn't do anything differently. I've also had 6 miscarriages. I'm so frustrated with my body and even with antidepressants I feel suicidal. People are so mean to me because of my weight and try as I might I just keep going up. I was on metformin and it made my depression and anxiety go… read more

I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling. I'm an overweight woman too and I've been where you are. Despite your heartache I can only ask you to follow your journey and invest in the process. The fact that you have lost weight more than once is a success, gaining it is a setback-NOT a failure.

Celebrate what is wonderful about YOU, revel in it and you will create a wall between your heart and those who would tear it apart. Even if they are your family, or "friends" who are mean, be unlike them and thankful that you are not plagued with the need to bring others down. Instead find ways to uplift someone else who struggles and you will find yourself rising too.

Do not be ashamed, you are certainly not alone in your feelings - and not alone on your path to change. Find out why you only have access to this doctor, then find a new one and forge a way to get to them. Do not let ignorance & arrogance stand in the way of your health and the life you envision for yourself!

You have shouldered a pain that many never can imagine but here you have a community of women who know have been there and hopefully can guide you.

Please don't give up.

I had a male Endocrinologist who was absolutely amazing and a female who was much younger and she was useless. I taught her more about PCOS then she already “knew!” So I think it’s about the doctors knowledge and not their sex!

I dont know if this exists everywhere but in Ontario Canada there is a system through the distributor that covers the remainder price of Victoza (above and beyond what insurance covers - I think up to 30%) called Inovacares offered through the pharmacy. I was very hesitant to go on Victoza as I've always been overweight with no ability to lose more than 15 lb (after 6 months of hard work) and Victoza is changing this. Its only been 3 weeks and I'm already down 20lb and hope this momentum keeps going. Best of luck finding the option that works best for you, I'm still fairly new to PCOS and have learned so much from the ladies on these chatboards.

I'd like to echo Christine about getting a female endocrinologist. It was the best thing I've done to manage my pcos. If Victoza is an option for you, I would suggest trying it. It's the only thing that has worked for me at all.
