Does Anyone Experience A Great Deal Of Pain If They Walk Too Much?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Portland, OR

I feel as if someone is stabbing me to death in my pelvic area with each step I take. I have been experiencing this for over a year and it's awful, I have to limit my walking distance even in my own home and sit down often.

Members powerfully validated the original poster's experience of severe pelvic and lower back pain with walking, with many describing nearly identical symptoms including stabbing sensations, an inability to stand or walk for more than a few minutes, and feeling dismissed by doctors who blame their weight rather than acknowledging PCOS as the source. Several members shared that significant weight loss through gastric sleeve surgery or strict diet did not resolve their pain, while others found some relief through warming up before activity, staying hydrated, taking pain medication like ibuprofen or tramadol, using mobility aids when shopping, and managing symptoms with birth control or metformin. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of living with chronic, invalidated pain that forces members to limit daily activities, quit jobs, and rely on strong medications, coupled with deep relief and solidarity in finally hearing others say 'you're not crazy' and 'your pain is real.'

I thought I was going crazy! The lower back and pelvic pain KILLS me! I can't walk for more than 5 minutes or stand for very long. Everyone - family, friends, doctors - all tell me it's cause I'm so overweight. Sitting here crying cause just to know I'm not crazy is the best thing in the world.

Yes I've always been told it was my weight so I had gastric sleeve surgery and lost 200lbs and still have the same issues.

Yes my back hurts at the right hand side then spreads to the centre then left. That's if I'm walking over a long period of time. I need to stop to take breaks.
