Painful Cramps Before And During Period
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I get really painful cramps before and during my period, I'm on birth control for a while now, but the cramps are a relatively new thing. I am going to see my gyn in a couple months but can't get to see them before then. Just curious, what do you guys do when you get bad cramps or even if you guys do?
Thanks!

I have had cramps since I was a kid. The only completely fool proof thing medicine that works for me--that gets rid of the bloating, cramps, reduces mood swings, etc.--is Midol Complete. Regular Midol doesn't work for me and neither does the off brand. For me, it must be Midol Complete. This was honestly my life saver on that front.

I went through cramos that landed me in the ER every month. The pain was unreal. Thats the main reason it led to my diagnosis of PCOS. They slapped me with birth control and metformin and before i knew it cramps were bareable and would actually go away with midol extra strength. But as years went on my period went crazy. The last straw was a 27 day cycle, i had it. But when they told me ive tried so many birth controls that they were just leavr me with metformin and no birth control i was terrified. But what about my demon cramps!? They didnt budge, so i left the office without b.c. freaking out about my cycles to come. Welp, still the cramps remained the same as if i were still on b.c. so now im like d***, the metformin has my back. My acne didnt fly back or anything. If your body can handle it and if your body needs it for insulin resistance its gold. But also squats, walking, (cardio), heating pads, ibprofen (it stops something from producing that causes cramps. I cant remember the details), good sleep, laying on your back with a couple pillows under your legs with your knees up creating a 90 degree angle, etc helps.

Usually when it comes to the type of month I am one that I want to stay in and do nothing and take a bunch of Ibuprofens. I read an article somewhere that exercise does help with loosening of the muscles in the pelvic area which are causing the painful cramps.
I decided to give that a shot, and surprisingly it did help out when I was active. I suffer from very heavy menstrual, cramps, and very big clots. This has helped me in the passed and has even helped lessen the flow.
I hope this helps you.
