Hi. I am 46 and was diagnosed with PCOS about 15 years ago. I did do fertility treatments (no luck), had a miscarriage and a still birth because I went into labor too early. My husband and I adopted nine years ago and it has been the best decision ever. I waited and waited on the hysterectomy because I was scared about messing with my hormones. Finally, this summer my new female gyn recommended an ablation and having my tubes tied. Everything has been going great and I only wish that I had done it earlier. For some, it stops the period completely and for others (like me), I might spot for a day and that's it. Just wanted to throw another option out there for you. Best of luck.
I would like to know others opinions too. I have multiple diagnosis so my reasoning is different. But from what I've researched recently there is not much evidence behind hysterectomy for pcos as it's a syndrome and effects multiple parts of the body. I also have endometriosis and have an endometrioma invading my R) cyst, also have prolapsing pelvic organs related to low oestrogen causing weak vaginal wall muscles. I'm seeing urogynaecologist this week and going to push for hysterectomy with ovaries going too. I have not had children, but have given up on that idea as I'm not allowed hormones or fertility treatment, I would prefer to be healthy and pain free in th long run.
