Does Anyone Know What Happens With PCOS As You Age? Will It Go Away?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

So I am now 44, probably done having kids, just want to know if I will have this all of my life? The one thing that bothers me the most is excessive hair. How do you treat that part of PCOS?

Aside from waxing and shaving, there’s a prescription available.

Thank you ladies for your input. I will talk to my doctor about Spironolactone. I had not heard about that before. As for the prescription cream, I had asked my doctor about that a very long time ago and he said I could try it but that if I miss a dose it would be back. I am thinking towards laser hair removal also. Thank you again ladies! Have a great hump day :)

spironolactone has only helped me with acne and water weight. i still have excessive hair, i think permanent hair removal is going to be my next option.

Maybe inquire about Spironolactone? It’s a heart medication that’s also used as a feminizing drug/helps with hair, acne and other symptoms that can possibly come along with PCOS.

I asked my OBGYN the same question and all he had to say was taking birth control will help with the excess hair.
