Will Anti Depression Medicine Help Or Hurt Pcos?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have depression along with pcos. I'm on lexepro I had just been increased in my medicine and wondering if this will effect my pcos by making it worse.

I’ve been on and off different antidepressants over the years. I had a similar effect to the previous person when I took zoloft^ I gained ALOT of weight. For me, Prozac works best in not causing any weight gain (at least for me) and helping with some of the hormonal fluctuation symptoms without making super loopy honestly…I feel like a modest dose keeps my emotions a bit more balanced.

I have been on different antidepressants for several years and do not believe there to be any interactions. When I switched to Zoloft a few years ago, my weight increased significantly, but this was likely due to my PCOS which was undiagnosed at the time. Best of luck to you.

I have been on and off depression meds for about 11 years now and was diagnosed with pcos when I was 14. I have never noticed any affects from those meds regarding the pcos.
