So, I’m not sure if people know how PCOS develops, but was it like that being overweight led to insulin resistance which led to pcos, or did I have pcos that led the insulin resistance that led to me being overweight. I’m just confused how this condition works tbh
From my understanding and research, your weight doesn't cause PCOS rather IR from PCOS can cause weight gain. Weight can make symptoms worse, but you have a predisposition to have PCOS or not. There are many people who have PCOS who are not overweight and there are people who are overweight who do not have PCOS.
As far as I know, the scientific community hasn't been able to figure out what leads to PCOS, they have been looking at fetal development more and more as they think it might stem from something there.
