I recently went to go talk to my nutritionist about going on a diet and I’m basically on a low carb diet. So when I lose weight is it one of those things that I have to keep up with the diet for potentially the rest of my life or just until I lose weight. My weight has pretty much stayed the same for well like the last seven years so would it do the same thing when I lose weight?
Everyones different, but heres what my experience has been. I did low carb, 50 grams/day, and lost 30 lbs in 3 months! Great! Until I stopped eating low carb and stopped tracking my calories and gained back 50 lbs. I started tracking my calories again, and did moderate carbs 125-150 grams/day, and the weight loss has been slower...about 40 lbs in 8 months. But its sustainable for me. I know i can eat this way for life. I still enjoy rice and potatoes and veggies and fruit just all in the proper portion size. But in the end, all weight loss boils down to is calories in vs. Calories out ...so if you lost the weight with low carb you could potentially maintain that weight loss with increased carbs as long as you burn the same amount of calories that you eat.
I went on the Mediterranean diet after I was diagnosed. Also no dairy and no alcohol. I lost 25-30lbs but have been stuck at that weight for a few months now.
Have you also tried using an app? I had one where it was like a food log, and told me how many calories I was consuming. Plus exercise, sleep, water intake. Lose it, it’s called.
Hi Shelby! The last 6 months I’ve done lots of research on the Keto diet/Lifestyle because treating PCOS was one of the listed things other than weight loss it helps with. I’m trying it out! I’m 4 days in and I’m looking forward to seeing how it works for me. I’ve struggled with my weight all my life and needed a solution!
This are all great responses!! Let me know how things go!
Good to know! Thank you so much for sharing!
