A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

My doc gave me this med and after about a month my acne cleared up and the hair is still there but not as bad. I have not had any cysts since on it ...

The longer you take it the better the hair growth will get. It took me about 3-6 months to see significant progress with the hair.

I’m taking 200mg (max dose) daily it’s been working great so far and I’ve been on it for a little over a year. I use to have a really bad hair growth issue on my face and everywhere else but the trick is to drink a lot of water while taking it.

I take 100mg of spironolactone a day and have been taking it almost a year- I haven't had a lot of improvement with the acne but it has helped with the hair growth- My Dr told me I probably need a higher dose- I have had some weight gain (Dr said this is normal on this medication) so that's frustrating

It lessened the hair growth on my chin but it really dried out my skin. I’m now taking stinging nettle root which is working a lot better for me.

Cleared up my acne entirely. Slowed down hair growth but didn't get rid of it entirrly.
