Increased Symptoms
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

To all the ladies here who have the issue of not getting their period...do you find your PCOS systoms get worse the longer youve gone without bleeding
My gyno has me on a low dose combo pill for hormones, but it doesnt help me have a regular cycle (no bleeding just pms symptoms). Im finding my PCOS related symptoms, especially the mental ones, increase and become more frequent the longer its been since i actually bled. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this because im seriously… read more

The estrogen in the BC pill could be making everything worse. I’m estrogen dominant too, if my estrogen to progesterone ratio is off you won’t have a cycle or ovulate. No BC ever helped me, it just made all the symptoms worse. The BC can also make you have worse mood swings. I was seriously a crazy person when I was on them.

I did start feeling a bit better mood wise after i started the pill...but the longer i go without bleeding, the more i feel it coming back. Almost feels like my body is trying to fight the pill like "no! We must not bleed and we must be moody!". I just want to get a period once in a while so this pms b.s will go away

That sucks! I keep trying to remind myself that as much as i might want ti bleed, there are probably many women who would love not to. Im estrogen sensitive...well sensitive to most things, always been hard to take any meds due to usually getting most of the side effects or them being too strong even at low doses....so im scarded to up it to a stronger pill. Wishing i didnt have to work so i could atleast avoid people so i can adjust to things at my own pace and not have to keep trying to hold back the emotional parts atleast...its becoming hard to let them out now that ive gotten used to it. Ive already warned my coworkers and parents (tried warning the bf, even tho he doesnt deserve the warning) that once im actually able to stop holding it in...it might get ugly lol hope things get better for all of us, knowing you have pcos is both a blessing and a curse.

I missed my period in July, then started the 12th of August and bled for 18 days. The pms symptoms were definitely still present all throughout and while I wasn’t bleeding was in a good amount of pain, as well as when I was bleeding for those extra days. Not sure if it’s because of the lack of bleeding from before, but I’ve been wondering the same as you. I feel like my birth control still isn’t giving me enough estrogen and maybe that’s the problem. I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad 😞
