Diagonised One Hour Ago, Anything Helpful Let Me Know Because My Doctor Didnt.
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

It has only been an hour since I have got home from the doctor's after being diagnosed with PCOS. I feel like my whole world has flipped upside down. My doctor gave me little to no information on this, she practically threw birth control at me and that was it. Any information would be great.
Im going to get a second opinion mostly because I hate that doctor.

Hi hun, pcos can affect women in different ways. It can cause high insuline level's , high testosterone levels which cause u wanted hair in places, irreuglar peroids where some ladies have periods that last a long time or no periods at all, hard to concive. Don't worry ladies can get pregnant with pcos its just harder to do. It causes weight gain and can be hard to lose weight with it too. My doctor was amazing with me when she told me that i had pcos back in 2017, she advised me that that i should change the way i eat and be more active as this helps imporve pcos. My advise to you if you want to know whats going on with your self you should speak to a different doctor if that don't work go see a gynecologist instead as they can give the info that you need. This is the best info i can give you, you can also read up on pcos on line and you can get books on pcos too. hope this helps & I hope you will get the info that you need.

They did the same to me when i was diagnosed 9 years ago, up until now I didnt realize that i needed to do a lot more then take birth control. Im having an even harder time coming to terms with this condition then i did 9 years ago. We are all here for eachother, to lean on and to seak guidance from eachother. From my experiance anytime i have a question or ask for recomendations everyone is so helpfull, so dont be afraid to ask when you dont know or you need some advise.

There is this book from “for dummies” series about pcos, you can view a free sample on an app called kindle if you wish.

You can check my profile too, you might find some things useful. There is a video I posted once so you would find it too.

I would normally talk a lot about pcos but I am not doing it this time

So I really encourage you to come here from time to time for support and some info too.

I really am into dealing with pcos with nutriition, but I just not so committed to it.
Anyways, I started eliminating chocolate (but not dark chocolate) and I hope it would help. A method called gamification really helped me. To think of chocolate as “chocolate monster” and avoid it at all costs to achieve my mission in avoiding chocolate! (I got myself a name an set the mission up for a whole week, but I just do not track things and I do not know how many days has passed alr, but I am happy that I am developing it)

So yeah, I hope this helped. Tbh I only read the comment Rivkah posted, and I agree with her. I will chack the other comments now, and I am sure they provided good jnfo and support. We are her to help you as much as we can

Who gave you birth control? Was it a GYN or an endocrinologist? A GYN is interested in regulating your monthly cycle but if you have PCOS you should see an endocrinologist to treat the problem rather than just giving you birth control. PCOS Is hormonal and you want to know the cause of your hormonal imbalance and treat it. A GYN does not specialize in this area but an endocrinologist does, so my advise is find an endocrinologist and get more information as opposed to just taking birth control pills.
