After just under a year of trying and a MC we decided to use medication. I did letrozole to help with ovulation. The first round was a low dose (2.5 I believe). I still didn't show signs of ovulation with it so in round two I did 5mg, which worked and I got pregnant on.
My midwife also put me on metformin which helps with insulin resistance (insulin resistance can prevent ovulation and can increase the risk of MC). Before metformin we tried inositol powder, which is similar in what it does but easier on the stomach (metforming can cause some stomach discomfort). inositol powder didn't work for me though.
I was also put on a progesterone suppository, which helps prevent MC. With PCOS our bodies don't always absorb/use progesterone well, so this process was to help my body use it better. Progesterone during pregnancy wasn't too bad since side effects are basically the same as pregnancy. I had to use it for a week before getting pregnant as well to induce a period (called progesterone challenge test) before i could use the letrozole and that was rough- very hormonal, dizzy, and nauseous.

@A myPCOSteam Member what medication did you use? I am new to this diagnosis and treatment seems very expensive…. What was your experience?

Yes! I'm 22 weeks right now. It wasn't easy and we needed to use medication to help our chances but here we are. Try to find a good doctor who understands PCOS and is willing to work with you on it (some are more helpful than others).

I was diagnosed with it in the 90's and at that point they told me I would never have kids (I never wanted human kids) but now even though they don't know what causes it and there's no cure, I see people with it getting pregnant. I have met them at the obgyn waiting room. Good luck to you. Definitely think its possible
