How Do You Start Changing?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I feel like I’ve fallen so far into the PCOS hole that I don’t know how to scratch my way out of it, doctors don’t want to talk to me about it until I lose weight which feels next to impossible. I’ve tried Metformin, It makes me so sick even after 2 months on it and I can’t use birth control Because it’s not safe medically for me so I feel like I’ve just been written off and don’t know where to start and some days I just feel so hopeless and like I’m just stuck like this. Posted on another post of yours too but spironolactone might be an option for you! Ask your doc and if they won't prescribe ask for a referral to an endocrinologist

Have you tried Glumetza it’s metformin slow release… or ovasitol? I’m on Glumetza and my body tolerates it better than regular metformin… just some suggestions.

I can understand your frustration. A lot of my symptoms were overlooked because I was overweight at 7-8 years old. I was finally diagnosed at 16 and put on metformin, unfortunately even after years the medication only caused me pain.
A way I’ve started to help myself is to cook/bake, often using a sweetener alternative like stevia and non-enriched flour. It doesn’t matter what you make as long as you enjoy it, of course be mindful of if you start binge eating. If I get cravings for sweets, I just take a small amount and eat it slowly which seems to help.
While the weight on my scale is very slowly decreasing, I’m fitting better in things along with feeling better.
I’m very new to improving my pcos, but every little bit helps.
