Thank you and yes i think its just lack of info on lean pcos - treating us the same as everyone else. When really, i believe every case should be treated as unique bc it truly can vary! Im on the hunt for a new obgyn who will be more careful. I also learned that another drug she gave me (i didnt take it) was supposed to be one you monitor people on with uktrasound. She was never planning on monitoring me while i used it…. Thats why we all have to stay informed and advocate for ourselves.
I hope your metformin joirney is gping well and that it has given you some relief! 💓 when i took it, i got bad side effects so i switched to myo-insolitol. Also tried berberine for a while… but since your case is severe i dont know if you have that option
That is really odd that your doctor prescribed Metformin before your bloodwork came back (and kept trying to get you on it after normal markers). I recently got diagnosed with pretty bad insulin resistance with lean PCOS (total shock to me) and got prescribed Metformin, I am glad you at least were able to rule it out!
It does! I stopped taking mine because I knew it wasn't doing any good for me. And I have insulin resistance. I'm glad you are realizing what you do and don't need!
Hi Adelee, thanks for your response! My doctor prescribed me metformin before my blood test results even came in. I know everyone with PCOS is given this medication so i took it for months and my blood work did not change. I also, over those months, had every insulin resistance and possible related markers tested and everything was completely normal.
To me it seems unnecessary to take metformin.
It definitely depends on your weight and lifestyle. I don't want to criticize or judge you at all! Healthy looks different on everyone! Possibly your test showed you were on the higher end of the range. If you feel uncomfortable, asking your provider to explain is a good step to take!
