I’m feeling depressed and really bloated and it’s only been day one. I was taking one full pill and one half pill but now I’m taking two and two. I’m usually motivated to work on my career and passion for helping others but now I just could care less.

As for mood, some people with PCOS do experience depression, and it can be tricky to know whether it's the medication or the emotional weight of managing PCOS itself. Both are valid and worth paying attention to.

Here are some things worth considering:

- Bloating is a common side effect of Metformin and may ease up after a few days or weeks
- Taking Metformin with food can help reduce digestive discomfort
- Mood changes should be monitored closely — if feelings of depression persist or worsen, it's important to flag this with a doctor
- Day one is very early — give the body a little time, but don't ignore symptoms that feel severe Since the dose increase is quite significant (going from 1.5 pills to 4 pills), it's really worth keeping a note of any symptoms and checking back in with the doctor sooner rather than later if things don't improve. Nobody should have to just push through feeling awful. 💛
