Do Any Of You Find It Helpful To Take Metformin At Night Before Bed Vs.during The Day?

My Metformin seems to REALLY bother my stomach. I have been on it for over a year now and it still really causes me discomfort. I have heard a couple people mention that taking it at night after dinner and before bed may help with some of the stomach irritation. What do y'all think?!? Interested in some input from people who have tried this :)

funny you should ask :c i was prescribed met 500mg extended release tabs 3x a day. i was directed to take 1x a day for 1 week, then 2x a day for 1 week, then begin 3x a day routine. i thought if i took the 1x tab at night, it would be easier on my stomach. BUT i ended up waking up with rapid heartbeat in the middle of the night- every. single. night. the doctor said to stop taking it for now, then when i feel comfortable enough to start again, i should take it at least three hours before bed. (so first one at 8am, second at 2pm, third at 7pm) i think maybe i was taking it AFTER dinner, then laying right down for bed horizontally, and so the medication was not really getting down & through my system as it should have. hope this helps?

I was also told to take mine right after dinner. My doctor said it helps absorb easier and keep it from causing the GI issues.

I've always been instructed to take mine after dinner, and I have never had any issues with it. However, metformin does affect people differently, so keep that in mind.

My tummy issues with metformin completely subsided after two to three years. I'd wait it out.
