Is soy okay for women with PCOS? There is a lot of conflicting data out there. I know processed soy (like soy isolate, etc) is not good, but what about edamame or soy milk? I'm not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon, but will be in about 10 years. My main issues are weight gain, acne, anxiety, and depression, so I don't want it to affect that. Thanks!

Some downsides to soy milk...it's a legume so it's calorie rich and can make you gain weight...it can also cause your estrogen levels to rise making us more susceptible to endocrine cancers eg cervical, ovarian or breast...and again if it's not organic chances are it's a genetically modified crop. I looked up the recommended weekly intake and it's 250 mls per week so I allow myself one small cup of store brought coffee per week with soy milk cos I just love its nutty flavour.

There's a lot of conflicting information out there but if you're going to research, make sure any article you trust has referenced actual scientific studies.

To the best of my knowledge, it's okay to eat in moderation. And in my view it's the lesser of 2 evils. If I'm at a cafe and the options are dairy or soy, the soy is less disruptive.
