I’m an electrologist with PCOS. If you can’t get electrolysis (truly permanent hair removal), I always recommend shaving. Shaving does not affect hair growth as you are merely cutting the ends. Anything that pulls the hair out (waxing, plucking/tweezing, threading, etc) will make the whole situation worse. It strengthens hair because damaging the root without actually distroying it, draws blood and hormone to the hair and surrounding area in turn feeding the hair to grow stronger, thicker, deeper. Not to mention causing distorted follicles and ingrowns. Believe me, I personally know how much the whole situation SUCKS, I’ve had excess hair issues forever. I love that I get to help women like us get rid of it. Hang in there :)

I'm on Spironolactone and I saved up for electrolysis. Prior to that I was up to waxing once a week, with supplementary plucking mid-week. I don't think it's something that has a single solution, but shaving is probably the best option for you right now. My electrologist has said that plucking/waxing EVENTUALLY works to kill the root, but prior to that the hair tends to get thicker and coarser, so always good to take that into account. I hope you find your best path!

I did electrolysis and it was very successful. Lazer didn't work for me because I'm blonde. It was a bit painful and took time, but it went away for good. You can use numbing creams to help with the pain.
