Advice For Losing Weight Against All Odds?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I eat a very protein heavy, low carb diet and have for years. I also run half marathons and exercise daily. If I don't do these things I gain weight like no one's business and I sure as heck do not EVER lose. The only time I was thin was when I had uterine cancer. PCOS has been a huge struggle for me. Can anyone recommend any sort of help or treatment that works if diet and exercise do not? I am on Metformin as well. Anytime I ask a doctor I feel they judge I am lying. There are a couple of PCOS diets out there. Try the Keto diet and see if that one works better for you. It focuses on higher fats and still the lower carbs. I personally have not tried it as I have high cholesterol and I'm not sure if I can do a high fat diet (I go to the cardiologist next week for a different reason and I'll him) but it seems to help those that other types of diets don't help.

I'm afraid I might not have anything helpful to say. I know that when I tried to lose weight without seeing a nutritionist, I just kept gaining weight even though I was on my feet walking all day at work and eating healthy. The problem was, the food I ate was healthy but not appropriate. For example, I was eating way too much fruit. People like to say you can eat as much fruit and veggies as you want but for me, I have to strictly control my carbs including fruit and veggies... although as you stated, you already control your carbs. My nutritionist told me it's very important to have carbs and protein and fiber in every snack/meal, so if you're not doing that, you could try it?

It sounds like your condition is a lot more severe and/or stubborn than mine, so I hope this helps but I know you might have already heard this type of advice before. I just wanted to leave a comment to let you know you're not alone. Good luck! Keep on keepin' on! :D
