Wondering If Type 1 Pcos Has A Higher Chance Of Infertility Or
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I'm 22 with pcos. I was diagnosed with it at the age of 14. Haven't had my period in the last two months of having unpretected sex with my fiancé. We are trying to conceive and so far the first month of missing my period the two tests I've taken have been negative.... could this be a possibility of infertility??

I've had unprotected sex as well missed period for 2 months.. as well, negative test as well..
now, i don't know if that proves you of being infertile, the average healthy couple take about a year to conceive.. if you are trying to get pregnant right away i suggest clomid, i personally haven't tried it but i have heard stories about how women with PCOS have and they have successful pregnancies. NEVER GIVE UP.

My husband and I have been together for 12 years and have never used protection or birth control and have never gotten pregnant. That is the biggest down side of PCOS. If you have PCOS and are really wanting to start your family now then yes, go see your doctor. Make sure it is a doctor that actually knows something about PCOS. Clomid is really not recommended for women with PCOs it is more recommended for unexplained infertility, due to the high risk of multiple births. Letrezole is the recommended medication for PCOS patients. The other things is that you want to make sure that your tubes are clear by having an HSG done. some insurance companies cover this, some do not. I have BCBS and they do not cover the HSG. But if you go forward with taking medications and you do not know for sure that your tubes are good working condition you may be pumping you body full of these medications for now reason. I also just read something this morning about the Moise at home fertility syringe. I do not know how effective this really will be for PCOS patients but I think I am willing to give this a try. Fertility treatments can get expensive, around $500 for IUI's and $13,500 for IVF. Lucky for you, you are so young that you may have better luck.
