Has anyone else experienced prolonged bleeding while having PCOS?? I’ve had this “period” since December 2017 and was recently put on birth control to stop the bleeding due to becoming anemic. I’ve had a Pap smear and it came back “normal”. Is there something out there (besides birth control) I can take to stop this issue?
I was going through the same thing & i went through 3 different birth controls but none of them worked. Im on progesterone now and its the only thing thats helped. The only thing that happened to me was that i missed a period but that kinda comes with pcos
I had my period from March 2018 to August 2018, heavier than I'd ever experienced before. I've had brutal, irregular cycles since I was 12 but this was the worst I've ever been. I needed a blood transfusion in July because my hemoglobin and iron levels became so low. I got an IUD in August which helped slow things down but I was still having quite heavy, irregular periods. After 5 months I had the most terrible cramps I've ever had before and stood up and my IUD came out with a huuuge clot and I bled extremely heavily for an hour or so and then continued to have a pretty heavy flow for a week or 2. I've tried quite a few different BC pills over the years, none of which really helped a whole lot. I'm currently waiting to see a OB/GYN so I can(hopefully) get a hysterectomy and be done with all this BS lol. I feel for anyone else going through these kinds of issues, it's a total nightmare! Good luck to all 🙂
I was just prescribed birth control. I forgot to take it for a few days and I started bleeding last Saturday and thought oh my gosh.. so I started taking it again. It has not slowed down the bleeding. I went to the ER because the blood clots were huge and I was bleeding through super pads and tampons in an hour. They told me to wait it out.
I have been bleeding for three months now and I had a normal and a vaginally ultrasound and got diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia whih is when an extremely thickened uterine lining is so thick it just sheds in bits. I have to see a specialist because it can be cancerous. Pcos and obesity are risk factors
I had a nonstop period for 4 months!! It was insanity. My obgyn put me on BC to stop it, which I'm not sure even worked because the flow didn't stop until age like 2 weeks after I stopped taking it. That was very bizzare for me as I usually do not get a period at all without having to take provera.
