Abnormal Bleeding !

Hello Everyone!

Has anyone else experienced prolonged bleeding while having PCOS?? I’ve had this “period” since December 2017 and was recently put on birth control to stop the bleeding due to becoming anemic. I’ve had a Pap smear and it came back “normal”. Is there something out there (besides birth control) I can take to stop this issue?

Thank you,
Monica

Take medroxy progesterone when you start bleeding. It helps me.

I have had the same issue and I am so frustrated with my uterus. I have tried almost everything… tranexemic acid first, then oral BC, now and IUD which only reduced the bleeding a bit but now I am spotting everyday. I wish I could just be done with my uterus and get a D&C or an ablation but I’m 27 and childless and I want children so that’s not an option right now. It’s just so frustrating when doctors basically tell you they can’t do anything for you. I wish we had the answers. Been searching the internet for answers and I haven’t seen much. Just fellow frustrated gals.

My situation might be different. I started treating myself with supplements and I had my period almost normal until I got the Covid vaccine. Now it seems like I bleed for prolonged periods and I get like 5-7 days of relief and it's right before my "period" is supposed to start. This has been going on since June 😭

Yes most def. The longest I have had one is 3 months. Have had all testing bloodwoork, ultrasounds, etc. Currently I have been bleeding for 45 days. Nothing has helped. Can't take any hormone pills; contraceptions or provera as I already have high blood pressure. Want a hysterectomy but my cost with insurance is $2300-$2700.

I do feel sorry for you. I too had a long period that lasted for as almost 3 months. I went to my obgyn and they started me on bc for 3 months and then I had migraines. Stopped that pill and started another one in a few months, but migraines kept returning til I had headaches for over six months before they went away. That was in the late 80's and early 90's. That was a long time ago and I had a hysterectomy in 2008.

Things are different now, but I still have all the same issues. The bloating, weight gain, mood swings are terrible. There is nothing they can do for those things just gave me more meds for things.

I had my period from March 2018 to August 2018, heavier than I'd ever experienced before. I've had brutal, irregular cycles since I was 12 but this was the worst I've ever been. I needed a blood transfusion in July because my hemoglobin and iron levels became so low. I got an IUD in August which helped slow things down but I was still having quite heavy, irregular periods. After 5 months I had the most terrible cramps I've ever had before and stood up and my IUD came out with a huuuge clot and I bled extremely heavily for an hour or so and then continued to have a pretty heavy flow for a week or 2. I've tried quite a few different BC pills over the years, none of which really helped a whole lot. I'm currently waiting to see a OB/GYN so I can(hopefully) get a hysterectomy and be done with all this BS lol. I feel for anyone else going through these kinds of issues, it's a total nightmare! Good luck to all 🙂

I've had my "period" since August 2017. I've tried different birth control pills and 2 different IUD's. Nothing is working. I had a transvaginal ultrasound done and it came back normal. I was tested for a clotting issue and that came back negative. How is everything coming up negative if I'm still having bleeding, cramping, mood swings, tearful, etc Also, decrease in libido. Then, when my husband and I do have intercourse it hurts SO BAD☹
