Do You Get Severe Mood Swings And Some Depression Without Getting Period Every Month?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I feel like my body is trying to get a period as I feel very strange mood swings and cravings but then nothing happens? Have you guys called the doctor to get that pill to make you get a period? I dont know if this helps with the mood stuff? I just recently got off birth control after 13 years and haven't got a period yet it has been 5 months. Just dont want to feel angry or go into a bad depression which I can be prone too. I know hormonal issues can create these awful feelingsm

There's a link between imbalanced hormones and mood issues. I didn't have my period for 9 months one time, I was suicidal in all that time. If birth control suits you, ask your dr to get you started on it again. There are a couple options you can try. I HATED BC, it made my mood symptoms worse than they already were. If you don't want to take birth control, get hormone testing done and get the imbalances treated by an endocrinologist. e.g if you have high testosterone, they'll put you on spironolactone. If you have insulin resistant PCOS, metformin and/or inositol should help

honestly I am on an antidepressant for these reasons. I def get depression. I have found eating a bit cleaner at first at least..if possible.. helps start things. I've never been on that pill and once i did not have my period for five months. I know how annoying it can be to wait and have your emotions be all over the place due to hormones.

I went through this myself they did have to put me on progesterone pill to get my periods on track as well as metformin. I am no longer on progesterone after they did surgery to remove fibroid tumor in April had my period in may will see if it comes in June now. I have been looking up herbal and natural stuff lately though. Parsley tea is supposed to help start your period also tak a good prenatal vitamin if you are not it has all the stuff pretty much in it a pcos women needs.

My GYN put me on provera (Medroxyprogesterone) and I have taking this medication for over year now and have had regular periods but if i miss a month of the medication I do not get a period. When I get my period I do have MAJOR mood swings and I am always craving food but that's just cause I am chunky lol
