Anyone Using Metformin? How Has Your Experience Been? Any Advice?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

My husband and I have been trying for almost 3 years with no luck. My last OBGYN had done nothing. When I complained of having 2 periods in 12 months nothing. Never talked to me about how dangerous that can be. All she ever did was yell at me for being overweight but did nothing to help me. I recently decided to switch doctors. The new one seems to have a great plan for helping us get pregnant. She started me on metformin to help regulate. She said it may also help me lose weight. I work out 2-3… read more

I just started about 2 weeks ago. The first few days were rough. I had bad diarrhea and it upset my stomach. However; I stuck it out and it seems my body has gotten used to it. I will keep you ladies posted.

**UPDATE**

So, I've been taking Metformin for about 4 months now. Everything has leveled out. No diarrhea or upset stomach. I am down 10 lbs and I haven't changed my diet. So, it's been helping with weight loss. Also, the color of my neck is getting back to normal. It was much darker. If all keeps going well, we will up my dosage in December to see how that works. I'm about to begin my Keto lifestyle so I'll definitely be shedding more pounds!!!

I tried it for a few years still had to beg for provera every other month from the doc (my issue is lack of cycles— no cramps, light cycles). I hated it!! It was awful.... tummy issues, bloated feeling, amd nausea if you dont take it with food!! Did not cause weight loss!! Stopped taking it a few years ago and i feel a lot better and more regulated (only have had to beg for provera 3 times). We are not ttc though. Ask for clomid too!! Im not overweight (the rest of my fam is though) but it shouldnt deter a dr from helping you out. I hope this helps

I've been on it for about 6 months now. Awful morning nausea for the first 2 months, but then my body seemed to get used to it. I saw some weight loss at first, but now back to where I was before taking it.

It has seemed to regulate my cycle, though. I wasn't getting a period at all, but now get it every month when my app says I should get it and lasts the expected amount of time, but no luck getting pregnant yet.
