I Ovulate And Have Regular Periods But I Was Recently Disnosed; How Is This Possible?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I’m newly diagnosed and haven’t a clue what it fully means to function with PCOS. I have always had heavy periods as well as ovary pain but I’ve typically always had a cycle every 28 days and I also ovulate. However my lab work indicated that I do have it. I don’t know up from down. I’m 33 and want to have a child someday and now I don’t know if that’s ever a possibility. I’m terrified and just want hope / help.

They probably saw cysts on your ovaries. I know that I have it without the cysts. It's a rarity to not get cysts and have PCOS. I have higher testosterone in my blood it has caused me to have facial hair. I was diagnosed at 14. Then at 16 years old while using birth control and condoms got pregnant. I unfortunately lost the baby. I know that it's hard to have a baby with PCOS. I take metformin to help regulate my period. I get it every 14-28 days. I keep my mind open up the possibility of pregnancy. I am on birth control which is constant in my system so I don't think I ovulate. But that's something I'll ask my Dr when they change out my birth control. I am hoping to find a partner in my future and try for a baby. If it happens great if not my 20+ nieces and nephews will be there to bring me up. I hope you figure out what makes you have it. I am here to talk if you need it been living with PCOS for 16 years.

I had to do the gastric sleeve surgery route to get the weight off. Nothing would work, was stuck to me like glue! Hoping my fertility shoots up once I hit my goal, only 34 pounds to go (92 down). Best of luck to you, weight loss is soooo hard!!!

Honestly you are really lucky if you get a regular period and ovulate! Most of us don't and thats the problem. If you ovulate you def have s much higher chance of getting pregnant. You may have a very slight case so be super grateful. Bc for most of us its pure hell!

I’m grateful for periods as strange as that sounds, but all of this is new territory for me. I have excruciating ovary pain during my periods; I’m getting an ultrasound done this week but my lab work lent itself to me having PCOS. I was put on Sprintec birth control and spiralactone. I guess I just don’t know how to navigate this. I appreciate your feedback!
