Has Anyone Been On Teragezza And Had Good Results?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I’m relatively new to my diagnosis, as I was fairly young I’d hoped my symptoms would sort themself out. After testing blood and screening, I was diagnosed but then I was diagnosed. My doctor placed me on this birth control shown below that I’ve been on for 9 months. It has done wonders for my skin, I barely get a single spot, however I’ve had a large increase in weight gain that has concerned me. My hunger is really excessive, mixed in with stress from studying for finals. I know weight gain… read more

Hmm maybe you have insulin resistance pcos? When I was your age I blew up like a balloon really quickly because of my pcos. My old obgyn blamed stress of college. I told him it wasn’t normal to have to buy new clothes every two weeks. He shrugged it off and told me to lose weight. Yeah easier said than done. I finally got fed up and switched obgyn offices 4 months ago and the new one put me on metformin.

I’m 27 now and I started metformin 3 months ago. For the first time since I was 19 I have been able to lose weight. My sugar numbers were indicating that I was near pre-diabetic levels too (they were at 100 fasting). That number has been slowly creeping up over the past few years. It wouldn’t hurt to get a second opinion : )

I've heard that some birth controls, not all, can cause some weight gain but so does stress. Maybe you could use a website like fitness pal to help you track your food intake. Good luck on your exams!

Haha I know the feeling! My old obgyn would lecture me about my weight. He even accused me of eating a whole bag of Doritos infront of the tv for dinner! I have never done that before in my life! I switched obgyn offices 4 months ago and wow what a difference! I know it’s a pain but do some research and find a better doctor to at least get a second opinion.

I have issues with my PCP too. He scolds me for not losing weight, or yo-yo weight loss. He has even gone as far as accusing me of lying about my diet and activity level. Thinking about switching to someone with more knowledge of PCOS.

Yeah if she seems uncertain I would find an obgyn that says that they help women get pregnant. I’m not trying for children nor do I have any but this new obgyn that I see says that they help women get pregnant. He seems to know a lot more about pcos than my other obgyn. My new doctor told me that women with pcos have a hard time losing weight on their own since everything we eat goes right to fat. Our bodies are always in storage mode because our hormones are off and that makes our sugar high. Where a normal body uses the food we eat as energy.

Back when I was in college yes I wasn’t eating the best and I was stressed out but looking back on it I gained a lot of weight very fast. I think I want to say with my worst month I put on around 15 pounds. I think that is excessive weight gain in my book. It was so bad I would buy a new pair of jeans and couldn’t fit into them by the end of the week. That’s not normal in my book. I tried explaining this to my doctor and he shrugged it off and blamed it on stress. Once when I graduated I completely changed my diet and started doing extensive workouts. I rejoined a gym in July of 2017 too. I ended up gaining 20 pounds and didn’t lose any of the fat that I gained. I started metformin 3 months ago keeping the same diet but not working out as hard and I have lost 16 pounds in 3 months. My old obgyn also made me suffer for years saying that a gluten issue was PCOS symptoms but that is another story.

The only thing I’m saying is that it doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion. You don’t have to leave your current doctors office but it’s good to hear what another doctor thinks. I wish I did at your age because I probably wouldn’t of gained 60 pounds.
