How Can I Start My Periods Naturally?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have not had a period since 2013 or 2014 so my doctor gave me until next month (June) to lose weight to jumpstart them or she was going to put me on birth control.. I’m against birth control as i have been on it previously and had really bad side effects to it. However I will also be having another ultrasound due to lack of periods. This is very depressing and stressful noone in my life understand me so its hard to express how i feel.

Try bioidentical hormones. They can be easier to control the dose. That's what I switched to. It's starting to work.

One month to lose weight?! That's a pretty tight time frame to put you under. I lose weight slooooowwwwwly. And even at that, losing weight in itself can cause hormonal swings which can further mess up our cycles. Just my opinion but I feel like your doctor has unrealistic goals and is pressuring you into the treatment THEY want, NOT YOU. Be firm, if you dont want birth control request another treatment plan be presented.

Yeah it seems like every doctor pushes the birth control pills. My new doctor said that I need to be on the pill to control my pcos until I was ready to have a kid. I have tried the pill 3 times and I turned into some crazy suicidal bitch on them. It was very scary. I opted for metformin which for the first time since I was diagnosed with pcos (I was 19 I’m now 27) I have been able to lose weight. I’m also not ready for a kid so I chose to have Skyla inserted to keep my uterine lining thin and for birth control. Good luck!!

Try taking evening primrose , omega 3, nac, and inositol to see if it helps. Also progesterone cream is good. I’d try all of those supplements before I’d do the bc thing. They tried to put me on that right when I found out, and it was awful.
