Pregnant Or No?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

What is the likelihood that I could be pregnant while taking Birth Control?

I know us with PCOS tend to take birth control for other uses than its intended.

I have a friend who has PCOS and has gotten pregnant twice while on BC.

I ask because I don’t get a period at all. And I’ve had a weird week or maybe a few here but this last week has been the worse.

Super emotional, like cry at the drop of a pin, (I’m a crier but not like this), super bloated, exhausted, weird swelling in my hands… read more

Hi there... First Response is the only hpt test that detects a low hcg level...
Under 7mul... most other brands only detect a range of hcg between 20-30 mul... your hcg is "supposed" to double every 48-72 hrs...
ex. so if you are only 4 weeks along ( from your last mp.. impossible to geuss right!?) You could possibly only have up to <3mul hcg...5 weeks <19
But ...it is not the same for everyone especially with pcos.... if you think you may be pregnant
( sure sounds like it girl!😁).. go to your doctor and get hcg blood serum test done... testing too early can give you a false results...especially in our pcos world... start charting your temp cm, cervical position etc.
Great apps for tracking..
If your goal is for pregnancy... keep us posted!
P.s. were you recently on any antibiotics? They can interact or interfere with your birth control...
Goggle hcg levels in early pregnancy with pcos...

Thank you for your thoughts! I will try a first response one in the next couple of weeks. Ill have to try to get into the doc when i have the money. I dont hace medical insurance at the moment (new job) so ill have to pag cash, which is fine.

Pregnancy wasnt really on my/our minds yet. But its not a bad thing of course :) but i just have this feeling that this is something more than the flu or allergies with everything all at once.

Im really trying to not over think this but ive just noticed some different things that dont usually happen to me.
My hands dont swell typically unless like ive laid on my hand/arm in my sleep. But ive noticed the last couple of weeks my hands swelling during the day at work when im not really doing anything. Where my rings like get tight.
Ive thrown up id say, 10 out of the last 14 days. Early morning before work. And i get a little bit of nausea randomly at weird smells or smell of food.
I dont think its the flu. I dont really have any like “sick” type symptoms. Like Im having kinda hot flashes but not as intense. Which i get sometimes with a period or horomonal changes, but no period this time. Not even any spotting in the last like 6 month.
Oh and im exhausted, like literally, i have a pretty low stress job with normal 8-5 kind of hours in an office.
I thought i had heard that the home test didnt work well with us but i couldnt remember if i really read that or not.

what do you mean, weird swelling in your hands? How many times have you thrown up?
Could it be the flu?
I have heard that home pregnancy tests don't work as well for us with PCOS..what has been your temperature fluctuations?
