Trying To Get Pregnant After Birth Control Pills
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I had to go on bc pills because my af was Ridiculously heavy and would last for over a month. Longest was 2 months. I ended up losing so much blood I was almost in need of a blood transfusion. Fast forward like 4 months later on the bcp of course I have decent periods but I want to get pregnant next year. Any insight on getting off of the pills and trying? I plan to use at least 10 more pounds to help me. I currently weigh 150lbs and im like 5'3

I got off the pill in July. The pill had been keeping my PCOS symptoms in check for 15 years and I thought it was in control so an endo told me I could get off metformin 2 years ago. Since I have been off the pill, I have been unable to have a period naturally and found out I am insulin resistant again and back on Metformin. I wish I had gotten off the pill earlier. While I have not been trying long, I am so ready for a baby.

When I went off birth control I had problems. When reading online, they said I shouldn't have gone off cold Turkey but reduced the dose slowly. You may need to research how long to do that for. My periods stopped completely but I know stress and poor eating were major factors for me.

I am currently 23. I have been on bc since i was 8 years old because i had the same problem with a heavy flow that lasted 2 months. Earlier this year, i stopped taking bc (around April). As of August i found out i was pregnant. It was totally unplanned.
