IUD Induced PCOS?
I have had the Mirena IUD in place for about 7yrs. Before placement I never experienced ovarian cysts. About 2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with PCOS as all imaging tests within several years revealed an excessive amount of cysts on both ovaries along with other symptoms consistent with PCOS. I feel like it may not actually be true PCOS and the cysts are actually caused by the IUD itself. I am considering getting it removed to see how my body responds without it. I always had normal cycles and for the most part never experienced any difficulties. I had an IUD placed. It was horrible- my body did not like it. I constantly had issues with it. I finally decided to get it taken out. My cycle never returned and I was diagnosed with PCOS months later. I really feel like the two are very related.
