Does Soy Or Phytoestrogens Affect The Hormones?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Toronto, CA

I wonder if the hormone mimicking of phytoestrogens found in soy causes excess facial growth in women and pcos especially premonopausal women? Would love to hear people's thoughts as I'm kind of struggling with this.

I’ve noticed worsening symptoms when consuming soy. But those symptoms are more aligned with IBS and muscle pain. I’ve never had facial hair issues but I do believe excess soy can further constitute imbalances

Very unlikely. The mimicking effect is weak and not likely to make symptoms worse. However, no food group should be eaten in excess.
