I have been taking 1- 500 mg pill of Metformin daily since I was diagnosed back in 98....it hasn't helped me loose weight or brought on cycles....is it too little metformin? Do I need to ask my doctor to increase it?

I am on Metformin 500mg 2x daily, my doctor said the reason for putting me on this was because PCOS has caused me to develop a skin condition called hidradenitis suppurativa. I have been on this for about 2 months now and I really haven't seen a difference. The more research I do on this, the more I keep finding that it is more a of a balancer of blood sugars than a medicine to help clear horrible horrible acne. I had two flare ups last year of HS, previous to that was 10years earlier, all three times I had to have emergency surgery, my dr prescribed me metformin 2x500mg daily and I don’t wanna jinx myself… read more
