Update 3/12/2023: Doctor said what I'm going through is quite normal. She did suggest that I should have gotten my DEPO shot there instead of Planned Parenthood, ONLY because they would have given me something to help get rid of whatever this period is doing.
I got diagnosed with PCOS back in August/September of 2022. I started the DEPO shot around Christmas time of 2022 and started medication, called spironolactone, at the beginning of the year. I had some period cramps the last week of… read more
Since you have got PCOS, plus have started on the depo, i would say its just one of them horrible side effects of that. Sometimes my cycle can be just as you have described. As of now, i haven’t had a… read more
I read that there are studies that have tried to link PCOS to Depo-Provera users. I took depo for 5 years in my 20’s. After seeing numerous drs and specialist I was diagnosed with PCOS at 35 (now 43). Just wondering how many of you also used depo.
i was on depo-provera for 5 years until September 2017 and was diagnosed with PCOS this month. I had no idea there was a correlation, very interesting indeed
Good afternoon all,
I’ve had PCOS for the last16 years and have been on 1,000 mg metformin for insulin resistance and Yaz now Nikki birth control to help with my cysts and hormones. Added in lexapro a couple years ago to help with fluctuating high highs and low lows. Is anyone else on this combination or taking any of the 3. I’m now 36 and wanting to know what’s working for others.
I have been having highs and lows because I haven't stepped. High dheas can cause insomnia or sleep issues and anxiety.
My doctor prescribed me the depo shot, to stop my longated periods, my problem with the depo is that it’s giving me a lot of pain not only that is it really good for someone who has a hormonal problem to take the depo? Is it ok to not have your period at all?
I’ve been told that it’s okay to not have a period as long as you’re on some form of birth control. Bc if you’re not on something and you’re also not having a period your uterine lining will keep… read more
I was diagnosed with PCOS and mild endometriosis in 2022. My periods have been irregular for a while now, I think it’s been around 3 months since my last period. However, for the last 4 weeks, I have spotted every day (red blood upon wiping, not enough to fill a pad) anyone else in a similar situation?
Hi Claire! Thank you for sharing. I also had a similar experience before I started the birth control pill. Long story short, I had irregular periods my whole life but never spotting, then I started… read more
I got started on the depo shot about 3 weeks ago and my acne has been insane ever since. Not just in the chin area, but my entire face is starting to break out. I have oily skin, but have never struggled like this before. What are some tips/tricks I could use?
Acne was a side effect of depo for me in highschool. I had to change treatments.
I've only recently Ben diagnosed after trying to conceive. I had a misscarage in September 2017 and have struggled with irregular periods since. Still not seen a gynaecologist. I was on birth control for 6 years straight (implant) then 6 months on Depo jag and I put my irregular periods down to this. I'm 2 stone overweight and struggling to shift he weight. Bloods show my LH is far too high compared to FSH. Testosterone also high
Rememebr for some people bc can stay in the system for 1 year or so after being stopped until its fully flushed in full from ones system (depending on type and body macanics). Depo on averagebis 6… read more
I got my first Depo shot over three months ago; I just got my second shot today. Meanwhile, this is the 33rd consecutive day that I've had my period. I don't know if I can continue with the shot if this carries on or happens at the end of this round too. Has anyone else experienced this?? Is it just a one-time uterine lining liquidation sale or is it recurrent?
Get the patch its a lot easier and so far i havent gained weight from it
My dr said an IUD wouldn’t cause weight gain but I gained ten pounds in the first month of having it. I’ve now had it for a little over a year and have put on about 25pounds. Now I wasn’t eating very good or working out so I’m not blaming it all on that. However I’ve been doing an hour of cardio almost everyday and eating mostly chicken and vegetables and haven’t been able to lose anything. Has anyone else experienced this?
I had the IUD in for the full 5 years and I gained 50 pounds....I really dont know if it was the IUD or not, could be the fact I have PCOS which makes it harder to lose weight, not working out as… read more
No. I've been on the Depo Shot and haven't had a period in a long while. Once it was explained to me, I've had no worries concerning not having a period.
