Mirena IUD With PCOS Experiences?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

Hi my name is Merel (32) PCOS and im from Europe.

- I want to know if trying the Mirena Coil is a good idea with PCOS since i've red that Mirena interrupts a woman's natural hormone cycle, but less than the birth control pill and that worries me because my natural hormonal cycle is horrible with my PCOS
- I have already placed the coil yesterday but now im worried, should i be worried?
- Should i give this a try for 6 months and see if I like the results?
- Should i track my weight, pcos… read more

Mirena And PCOS. Bleeding Suddenly
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

Hello,

so this is my first time with mirena and i was given it to help ease my PCOS/adenomyosis/fibroid symptoms. I'd have spotting sometimes but it would normally go away that day.

But i'm at like, the 10 month mark, and this week i've had a very light bleed on and off for about 7 days with some mild cramps (either normal mild or based on what i used to get) and i'm wondering if that's normal?

My "cycle" before this was like 2 months non stop then like 6 months off. no real consistency… read more

Mirena IUD
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I've had the Mirena IUD since 2014, and it has not regulated my cycle. I have had a few periods since, but now I've been without once for a year. Has anyone else experienced this problem with this IUD?

A myPCOSteam Member

I had the Mirena for 4.5 years and I didn't have a period at all until the 4 year mark. When I did start to get it back, it wasn't very heavy it was extremely light.

What Are Other People's Experiences With Mirena?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I'm going into hospital tomorrow to get the Merina put in. I've been living with chronic pain for almost 3 years and this is the last alternate treatment i have before a laporoscopy - that would mean checking for endo and if nothing is there, undiagnosible pain.

Mirena isn’t perfect, but it’s done a lot of good for me with endo and PCOS. Relax when they put it in 😊

Any Other’s Who Have Or Had A Mirena IUD And Thoughts On It?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

SOS, I need advice and personal stories. I’ve had Mirena for about two years now. I simply wanted it for its sole purpose as birth control. Due to insurance issues and what not, mirena covered my IUD for me so i was limited to options as to which IUD was good or best for me. I tried a bunch of different birth control pills before and I hated every single one of them. I either bled every two weeks, gained excessive weight, or was a moody b*tch. My mom still thinks my moods swings may be cauased… read more

IUD Induced PCOS?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have had the Mirena IUD in place for about 7yrs. Before placement I never experienced ovarian cysts. About 2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with PCOS as all imaging tests within several years revealed an excessive amount of cysts on both ovaries along with other symptoms consistent with PCOS. I feel like it may not actually be true PCOS and the cysts are actually caused by the IUD itself. I am considering getting it removed to see how my body responds without it. Has anyone else experienced this or… read more

Experience With IUD?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I've been on tri lo sprintec for the past almost year. I've been so unhappy with it. The obgyn wanted me to be able to skip periods and I haven't been able to. It's caused me to have extended periods that are still as heavy as before. Also, the weight gain from water retention has been awful. So I've been looking into the mirena IUD and just wanted to know of any experiences with it, good or bad. I'm concerned how it would affect me having pcos.

Has Anyone Had Pcos To Manifest After Going Off The Oc Pill, But Then Be Temporary?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
A myPCOSteam Member

I'm not certain that it is temporary but I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS until I had the Mirena IUD removed. It was about 6 months after the fact. I have always had extremely heavy periods and long… read more
