Mirena IUD With PCOS Experiences?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

Hi my name is Merel (32) PCOS and im from Europe.

- I want to know if trying the Mirena Coil is a good idea with PCOS since i've red that Mirena interrupts a woman's natural hormone cycle, but less than the birth control pill and that worries me because my natural hormonal cycle is horrible with my PCOS
- I have already placed the coil yesterday but now im worried, should i be worried?
- Should i give this a try for 6 months and see if I like the results?
- Should i track my weight, pcosā€¦ read more

Mirena IUD And PCOS

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

Hi, I am 31, from UK, I am booked in to have my mirena fitted in a weeks time, bit nervous about pain due to some trauma but I am wondering about periods. I have not had one for 1.5 years now and scans show nothing? Anyway, will this bring on a period? Maybe not right away but in time?

I, personally, am against an IUD. My sister had one and it caused her to have a stroke.
I have heard and read that people with our condition sound not take birth control either.

Mirena And PCOS. Bleeding Suddenly

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

Hello,

so this is my first time with mirena and i was given it to help ease my PCOS/adenomyosis/fibroid symptoms. I'd have spotting sometimes but it would normally go away that day.

But i'm at like, the 10 month mark, and this week i've had a very light bleed on and off for about 7 days with some mild cramps (either normal mild or based on what i used to get) and i'm wondering if that's normal?

My "cycle" before this was like 2 months non stop then like 6 months off. no real consistencyā€¦ read more

Mirena IUD

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

I've had the Mirena IUD since 2014, and it has not regulated my cycle. I have had a few periods since, but now I've been without once for a year. Has anyone else experienced this problem with this IUD?

A myPCOSteam Member

I had the Mirena for 4.5 years and I didn't have a period at all until the 4 year mark. When I did start to get it back, it wasn't very heavy it was extremely light.

What Are Other People's Experiences With Mirena?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

I'm going into hospital tomorrow to get the Merina put in. I've been living with chronic pain for almost 3 years and this is the last alternate treatment i have before a laporoscopy - that would mean checking for endo and if nothing is there, undiagnosible pain.

Mirena isnā€™t perfect, but itā€™s done a lot of good for me with endo and PCOS. Relax when they put it in šŸ˜Š

Any Otherā€™s Who Have Or Had A Mirena IUD And Thoughts On It?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

SOS, I need advice and personal stories. Iā€™ve had Mirena for about two years now. I simply wanted it for its sole purpose as birth control. Due to insurance issues and what not, mirena covered my IUD for me so i was limited to options as to which IUD was good or best for me. I tried a bunch of different birth control pills before and I hated every single one of them. I either bled every two weeks, gained excessive weight, or was a moody b*tch. My mom still thinks my moods swings may be cauasedā€¦ read more

Experience With IUD?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

I've been on tri lo sprintec for the past almost year. I've been so unhappy with it. The obgyn wanted me to be able to skip periods and I haven't been able to. It's caused me to have extended periods that are still as heavy as before. Also, the weight gain from water retention has been awful. So I've been looking into the mirena IUD and just wanted to know of any experiences with it, good or bad. I'm concerned how it would affect me having pcos.

@A myPCOSteam Member hi did the IUD end up helping you with your spotting?? Iā€™m new here and getting it soon. Thanks!

Abnormal Bleeding !

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

Hello Everyone!

Has anyone else experienced prolonged bleeding while having PCOS?? Iā€™ve had this ā€œperiodā€ since December 2017 and was recently put on birth control to stop the bleeding due to becoming anemic. Iā€™ve had a Pap smear and it came back ā€œnormalā€. Is there something out there (besides birth control) I can take to stop this issue?

Thank you,
Monica
