Greasy hair

I've always had dry thick their. I could go for days without washing hair.
Now I've been diagnosed and taking metformin yet hair is now greasy as an oil slick. Itchy scalp and. Hair that's awfully yucky and greasy. I tried swapping shampoo and also increasing the times I wash my hair but it's so bad. Please help.

My hair is extremely dry and it just breaks off. Nothing I've tried will bring moisture back to it.

Unfortunately its one of the symptoms - Dandruff, I have to wash my hair everyday and it falls out in clumps.
