My hormones are balanced but I still deal with hirsutism on a daily basis. So much so that I shave (my face) every day, if not twice a day.

Members shared a wide range of experiences managing hirsutism, with laser hair removal emerging as the most consistently recommended long-term solution, though many noted it only works on dark hair and can sometimes stimulate more growth if hormones remain unbalanced. Several members praised electrolysis as the only truly permanent option despite requiring patience and commitment over many years, while others found relief through daily Spironolactone (which blocks testosterone), spearmint tea or pills, and at-home hard wax kits from brands like GiGi. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of daily shaving, ingrown hairs, and feeling misunderstood by doctors, met with deep solidarity and practical advice ranging from exfoliating with pumice stones to using coconut oil post-shave and seeking endocrinologist referrals for proper hormone management.

I've been seeing an electrologist for many years. She does a treatment called electrolysis. It is the only permanent solution. IT WORKS!!!! Having a face full of hair since I was 9 years old was emotional, and it robbed me of self confidence. I waxed, I shaved, did laser treatments which stimulated more hair to grow. Left me in tears and I wanted to hide. Patti helped me, and it did take a while and was a commitment, I kept with it and today, I only get a few strays which I cut with small sizzors until I can get an another appointment. Electrolysis has helped me not to have to worry about stubble or ingrown hairs and I hardly wear foundation anymore. Thank the Lord for electrolysis.

I started taking spearmint pills, they are 500mg, I take two 3x a day and it has slowed the growth an incredible amount in just two weeks!

Rosewater helps ingrown hairs. You can find it on e-bay or Amazon or maybe Whole food's ( or any natural store). Or try something called Skin-tight. It helps to clear up ingrown hairs. It comes in regular or extra strength formulas. I have to use the extra strength(because of how coarse my hair grows🙈) but I would recommend trying the regular strength first. You can Google it to see where you can order it. But it either one works!!!
