What Acne Products Work Best?
A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

What products or methods have worked best for clearing your skin? My husband and I are trying to conceive, so birth control, spironolactone, etc aren’t options for me right now and I’d like to try to avoid a medication approach anyway. What’s worked for you?

Also in the market for new foundation and moisturizer refommendations!

Use rose water and a benzonite clay mask! So far it's helped me so much in clearing up my skin and it's helped it become more normal instead of oily.

I tried so many products, then I finally found a system that works for me. Merle Norman has a line, and then 2x a week I use their Miracol mixed with the booster. Another big key for me was using a facial brush. My skin is so clear now.
Also, I recently went from 265 lbs and I am now at 174.6. I was stuck at 215 for a long time, then I bought a sous vide cooker, and the high protein, low glycemic index kick started some real weight loss. I increased my activity as well, and I track all food and activity with my Fit Bit. Logging EVERYTHING you put into your mouth and keeping honest to yourself really keeps you accountable, and for me, it helped me changed my total attitude towards food and make better decisions about food as a lifestyle.

During the worst throes of my acne, I did use Apri, an oral contraceptive, and that helped too.
Another thing I added was a herbal fertility booster that I found at Target. I did not start this for TTC, but rather because a fellow cyster recommended it after it helped with her PCOS symptoms.

I feel it was a combo of all these things, but I am off the oral contraceptive, and my skin has maintained well. My periods are also now regular. I actually became pregnant a few months ago (without any additional "trying" methods), but unfortunately, miscarried early. I want to lose additional weight before we try again.

I started using witch hazel after washing with cetiphil and then using the cream and ive only had minimal break outs around period time. It's relatively cheap if you buy the one they keep by the band aids over the one marketed for faces (as the dollar or two difference is a different bottle with a scent). I also have my moms old aczone rx for when breakouts get out of hand, though that cream is pretty drying.

I broke out really bad my last cycle and my face was a mess. I end up going to the doctors because my face was a mess and my cycle was much long then it has been. So i went on antibiotics for 10 days and everyday i have been using witch hazel. Face has felt better . ☺
