Hair Texture Changes?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

I know that its normal for hair to change over our lifetimes, but in just a few short years my hair transitioned from mostly straight to incredibly curly and unruly. I read a study that claimed testosterone can change the shape of the hair follicles. Anyone else go through this?

My hair changed when my doctor inserted an IUD, claiming it would help with everything. Fast forward six months my hair is unruly, and SO thin that it's causing major depression. Searching for ways to get my hair to stop falling out..

The only thing that has remotely slowed my hair loss is getting the testosterone and insulin resistance under control through weight loss, healthier eating and medications/supplements. Spironolactone is a med that blocks testosterone so maybe ask your doctor about that. I understand the feeling 😢

I think this is pretty common. My mum said her ringlet hair became only wavy/slightly curly after childbirth. It's due to hormonal changes. Would love curls!
